As we already know about the tales of Holika dehan during the holi festival. But today I am unveiling the story of Shree Krishna behind this colours of joy.
As per scriptures, Krishna as a child was a bit self conscious because his skin was dark blue, while his best friend Radha was very fair. Ma Yashoda found him under the tree lost in thought
Said ‘O kanha what keeps you here ? Why dont you go and play with your friends. In response he just grunted and turned away?
Krishna said ‘ O Maiya , how Radha is so fair? Like the Silvery moon while i am dark a strange hue of Blue
Maiya said ‘ It is the most beautiful blue dear one which is deep and mysterious, the same shade as Maa Yamuna’.
But its unfair Maiya ; what an injustice of nature , why she can’t like me ?
Maiya smiled ‘ ; Look at the play of colours of Nature, kanha. you can play colours too!
Pour your favourite colour on her , and then both you will be same.
Krishna’s face brightened up . In spring the entire Brijbhumi was roit of colour.
The next time they met, he playfully smeared blue on Radha’s face.All the Gops and Gopis joined this carnival which lasted for 40 days.
Since then the tradition of playing with colours and water on Holi began with marks the beginning of spring on a full moon day at the end of falgun
